OUR MISSION

SOFT's mission is to support the disadvantaged elderly and to work with marginalized sectors of our society to improve and raise their standard of living. Our pilot program started in Chilmari, a remote village in the Kurigram District of Bangladesh, and an area prone to recurring floods, river erosion and pervasive poverty. Our long term goal is to serve other rural and impoverished areas of Bangladesh.

OUR VISION

We envision a rural Bangladesh where the disadvantaged elderly are cared for and where men, women and children have access to opportunities that will advance and better their lives and the lives of their future generations.

Currently we are leveraging support from numerous donors and rapidly expanding our programs and activities in areas such as girls education, employment generation, raising agricultural production etc.

OUR HISTORY

SOFT was founded in July 2007 by our Chief Patron, Mrs. Jasmine Ashraf, wife of H.E. Mr. Ashraf ud Doula, Bangladesh Ambassador to Japan, who used her savings of $4,000 to fund the initial pilot project of housing a number of disadvantaged elderly. Having repeatedly visited her husband's village over the years, Jasmine wanted to find a way to empower and help this rural and impoverished community who have always welcomed her and her family with open arms.

We invite you to browse through our website, learn about our wonderful and life changing projects and join us in making a tangible difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
